  • Spanish Study Group — Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. Participants should be able to read a Spanish-language newspaper.
  • Creative Drama – Fridays at 3:45 p.m. Drama as a learning tool for children ages 7-12.
  • DIY Club – 4 p.m. for kids in grades 5-7. Tuesdays, Jan. 27, Inkheart Book and movie celebration.
  • Preschool Storyhour – Tuesdays, through March 31 at 10:30 a.m. Stories, fingerplays and crafts for children ages 2-5. Please pre-register. No meeting on Feb. 17 or March 17.
  • Toddler Storytime – Wednesdays, through April 29 at 10:30 a.m. Stories, songs and crafts for children ages 1-2. Please pre-register. No meeting on Feb. 18 or April 22.
  • Baby Lapsit – Wednesdays, through April 29 at 11:30 a.m. Stories, songs and rhymes for children ages 3-12 months. Please pre-register. No meeting on Feb. 18 or April 22.
  • Kids Club – Wednesdays, through April 29 at 4 p.m. Stories ,crafts and activities for children ages 6.5 and older. Please pre-register. No meeting on Feb. 18 or April 22.

  • Rosalita’s Puppets – Thursday, Jan. 29, at 6:30 p.m. A fun, family, winter show with Charlotte Dore and her puppets
  • Author Talk: Sandra Foy — Thursday, Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m. The local author of the romance novel This Life Isn’t Perfect will speak.
  • Is Self-Publishing Right for You — Thursday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. Erica Ferencik, local author of Cracks in the Foundation, will speak.
  • Spinning and Knitting Group – Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Feb. 14, 28 for anyone who loves to spin, knit or do other craft projects.
  • SpectrumBoston – Thursday, Feb. 19 at 2:30 p.m. The education department of the Citi Performing Arts Center and the Boston Public Library offer youth-led theatre workshops. The workshops will be based on themes from the musicals Ain’t Misbehavin’ and The Color Purple.
  • Social Justice Book Discussion — Thursdays at 7 p.m. Feb. 19, The Post-American World by Fareed Zakaria; March 19, Global Woman: Nannies, Maids and Sex Workers in the New Economy by Barbara Ehrenreich and Arlie Russell Hochschild; April 16, May 14, June 18, A People’s History of the United States by Howar
  • Energy-Saving Seminar — - Thursday, Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. Architect Chong-Zi Chen will speak about making a home energy-efficient.
  • Poets, Painters and Madness — Feb. 18 through March 28, during library hours. Drawings by Lucienne Bartfield.
  • Gloucester Hornpipe & Clog Society — Saturday, March 7 at 7 p.m. The Gloucester Hornpipe & Clog Society will perform traditional Irish and Celtic music. Since this is a fundraiser for the friends of the Jamaica Plain Branch, an $8 donation is suggested.
  • Author Talk: Joan M. Blake — Thursday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m. Blake will discuss the role her strong Christian faith has played in her life as she discusses her book, Standing on His Promises: Finding Comfort in the Midst of Your Storm.
  • Employment Opportunities with the United States Census – Thursday, February 19 at 6 p.m.
